Description

The Yellow Loop is an easy hike through Stroud Preserve taking the hiker past wetlands and through woodlands and farmland. It begins at the same location as the Green Loop and the Red Loop near the small parking lot along Creek Road.

The trail skirts farm fields and forests, occasional dipping into the trees. The trail is open to horseback riding and has a few mucky spots where the horses have pounded the dirt into mud (depending on season and recent weather).

Excellent for hikers, dog-walkers, and families interested in a day out. Well-marked and maintained. Excellent place to view foliage in the fall.

Flora & Fauna

Birds include Eastern Meadowlark, Bobolink, and Field Sparrow. Part of the Laurels, King Ranch, and many others. A great spot for bird watchers due to the diverse habitats on this preserve.

Meadows filled with native grasses such as purpletop, switchgrass, and big bluestem, and wildflowers such as ironweed, goldenrod, and milkweed.

The woodlands are dominated by red oak, tuliptree, beech, and maple.
