Family Friendly The Mores Mountain Nature Loop allows for a shorter hike. Additionally, a picnic area at the trailhead allows for relaxation after the hike.

Open June-October, depending on snow conditions.

Description

From the trailhead, go a short distance bearing left at the first intersection. Continue on switchbacks up through granite rock outcroppings with views into the Boise valley. The trail then meanders through low brush until it comes out on the east slope of the mountain.

This portion of the trail is exposed with travel through scree. Loop around Mores Mountain with great views to the west. The trail then wanders through ponderosa pine forest and loops back out into sagebrush flat to complete the hike.

Flora & Fauna

The trail is a wonderful opportunity to view wildflowers, including lupine, goldenweed, indian paintbrush, and sandwort. Watch for stinging nettle. Black bears, elk, mountain lions, deer and many birds live in this area.

What a great trail. Wild flowers were out. Great weather. North side of trail a little steeper then the South side. Would definitely do it again. 2mi — 11h 00m

Trailhead gate is closed, likely due to trail conditions. Had to come up the extension trail further down the road. Lots of snow up top and downed… 1.9mi — 1h 00m
