Description

Start at the parking lot at the end of Middle Fork Road FR 38. From the northern side of the parking lot, you'll head north for a short ways until the trail heads over to cross the Middle Fork Nooksack River. A recent log bridge provides for easy crossing though it's hard to say how long it will last before it is washed away, so check the latest trail reports.

After crossing the river, you'll begin a series of switchbacks immediately. The trail climbs steeply at times with some muddy parts closer to the river. Towards the second half of the trail, it will turn into a rocky stream bed in sections. As you get closer to the end there will be numerous trips down into ditches to cross water and back up the other side. Finally, the trees will start to break and you'll reach the marshy meadows. Follow the trail carefully and pick your way through the meadows. Be prepared to get wet. The views are fantastic and will soon get better as Mt. Baker comes into view on your left.

The trail ends at its connection with the Bell Pass Trail which is part of the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail.

Seemed steeper than I thought it would. All the Creek beds were dry, but there was a nice stream for filtering at the Mazama camp 4mi

Bridge and first mile in good shape, recently maintained. A few muddy spots. Halfway up I started encountering trees across the trail and snow. 2mi
