Description

This trail begins at the Millbrook Mountain Carriageway, which is a 2+ mile hike from the Minnewaska Lake parking area. The loop joins up on top of Millbrook Mountain, where you'll have a couple options to return to your vehicle.

This trail can be anywhere from 7 to 10 miles, depending on which loops you take and where you access it from. Don't start late in the day! It definitely rewards those who are fit enough to hike it with spectacular views and beautiful flora and fauna.

The beginning of the trail is a cairn marked with red blazes on the right side of the Millbrook Mountain Carriageway, a half mile past Patterson's Pellet and a mile from the Minnewaska Carriageway. Follow the red blaze trail as it zigzags through bare rock, along the Palmaghatt Ravine, and through stands of trees. It will eventually lead out to a beautiful view at Gertrude's Nose. Along the way are some potentially dangerous ascents and descents. It is truly an enjoyable trail. The best way to do it is to bring a packed lunch to eat at Gertrude's Nose.

Flora & Fauna

Pitch pine barrens, stunted forest, hemlock, white pine groves, mountain laurel, and blueberries.
