New Mexico State Park day use fees of $5.00 unless you are camping in the Park.

Description

This trail starts at the end of the parking area at Villanueva State Park, south of Las Vegas, New Mexico. While the Pecos River is on one side of you, on the other are beautiful canyon walls with interesting geological formations. The trail is easy to follow, being well worn through the years. The Pecos River is swift and challenging should you want to cool off in it especially in Winter and Spring.

Flora & Fauna

A few species of cactus can be found along the trail along with short desert shrubs and cottonwood trees. Deer, cottontail rabbits and native birds frequent the river area.
