ADA Accessible Portions of the trail near the day use area are accessible, but not the entire loop.

Family Friendly Very easy loop around the lake that connects to some of the campsites. Offers many access points for swimming or fishing.

There is a $5 day-use fee at the parking area which fills up fast and the campsite is likely to be completely full on summer weekends.

Need to Know

There is no water at the campground so you'll need to bring your own.

Description

This is a very popular trail for good reason: it's easy; the view of Adams over the lake is outrageous; there are many access points for swimming and fishing; and you can access many of the campsites directly.

The trail begins and ends at the day-use area which boasts a small picnic area (one amazing table is right on the lake), some parking, and a boat ramp for non-motorized boats/floaties. The very best views of Adams are from this corner of the lake too. Much of the west side of the lake and part of the north edge are along the campground so there are more lake access points here and trails that lead to some of the sites.

There are multiple outhouses you can use in the campground too. The southern edge of the lake is bit marshy but still has some spurs to good fishing spots and access to Tak Tak Meadow Trail #136. The eastern edge offers a few lake access points with good afternoon sunshine. The trail is wide, in good condition with few obstacles, and easy the whole way around.

Consider also hiking Tak Tak Meadow Trail #136 for a family-friendly extension of the loop that adds meadows and flowers. In theory you could take Tak Tak Meadow Trail #136, and then hike forest road 2329 for a bit to access Divide Camp Trail #112 for a very long hike right from your tent but note the road is narrow and dusty.

Flora & Fauna

Watch for osprey hunting the lake's rainbow trout.
