Summer only hiking. Skiing mountain in the winter.
Need to Know
One can reach Allmendhubel via the funicular railway from Mürren or by hiking up to its peak.
Description
Beginning in Allmendhubel, the hike is a relatively easy path in terms of rockiness, however, the incline is very very steep at the start until one reaches the bottom of the Kandahar lift. But, while it is a very steep grade at the start, if you're committed, I'd recommend reaching the top of the steep grade and the Kandahar lift for the views.
Once you reach the lift, it's green valleys rather than a steep rocky path (it feels like it's following an alternative ski slope down or a maintenance road up the mountain). The rest of the hike, however, I would describe as intermediate difficulty, given a wide easy path, and a decent grade, with some steeper sections.
Following reaching the Kandahar lift, you'll be hiking among grassland on a rockyish path all the way up to Schilthornhütte, where you can continue the hike all the way up to Birg, and then back down via other trails.
Not my favorite trail as the environment feels hasher for the first section, which is not as pleasing, although shorter than other options. I would instead recommend hiking from Mürren through Schiltalp and through the valley to Birg and other trails, rather than this way, but this trail can function as an alternative option.
