Overview

This hike starts at approximately at 10,000 ft. and descends to approximately 9,200 ft. before heading up to the North Crest Trail #130N. The trail stays in the trees until it tops out on the Crest Trail. There are fantastic views at the overlook. The elevation and trees make this an excellent trail to escape the summer heat.

Need to Know

There is a parking fee at the trailhead.

Description

Take the 10k Trail #200 north for 1.5 miles to where it ends at the Osha Loop Trail #201. Go right on the Osha Loop Trail.

About 1 mile into the loop, you'll intersect the Osha Springs Trail. There is no sign here. Turn left and start up the trail. About 1.2 miles of climbing later, and you'll top out on the North Crest Trail #130N with a view of Bernalillo. Before getting to the Crest Trail, you'll cross Ellis Trail and Survey Trail.

Continue on the Crest Trail for another 0.2 miles until you see the sign for the Osha Loop Trail. Take this trail down 0.5 miles to return to the 10k Trail. You'll cross the Ellis Trail and Survey Trail again. Take the 10k Trail back to the parking lot, and you are done!

Signage was clear, with the exception of the Osha Loop Trail and Osha Springs Trail intersection where no signs existed.
