Off-trail travel is allowed in the George Washington and Jefferson Nat'l Forests without a permit. For more information, click here.

Description

This connector is technically within the boundaries of the George Washington National Forest and it is not heavily used. That said, there is enough foot traffic on it that some people get confused and hike this spur instead of the official Reservoir Hollow Trail to US 60.

The city, county, and local organizations have gone through several stages of trying to get more interest and awareness of these trails, but we have a small population so the majority of people are just locals out for a stroll. This does not generate enough traffic to make all the trails heavily used and therefore visible on the ground.
