Description

The Veterane Trail is a nice, nearly mile long trail that, when accessed from the Gazzam Main Trail, meanders slowly downhill through the very quiet and picturesque Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve. There are a few steeper sections at the bottom end of the trail. The trail is best done as an out-and-back hike, but it can be also made into a loop when combined with the Knudsen Trail, which also connects to Crystal Springs Drive further north.

The trail is best accessed from the parking lot at Deerpath Lane; from there, start on the Gazzam Main Trail and look for the trail entrance on the left shortly after passing the water towers.

Flora & Fauna

Owls and Douglas squirrels live in the area.
