Description

This trail starts from the parking area on Old Troy Road. It coincides with the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway to the summit of Mount Monadnock. It follows an easy gravel path for a short ways, turns left off the well-graded path and gets much steeper. The trail is heavily-worn and starts to become a calf-burner. The trail starts to ascend the rocky top and passes many scattered viewpoints. The trail reaches its junction with the Marlboro Trail (on the right). The trail continues left, following the white-painted "D's". The trail seems to dead-end at the White Arrow Trail, where it becomes devoid of blazes. From here, I guess it's just a free-for-all to the summit. I wasn't able to find the definitive route to the summit, according to the blazes.

For more information on this trail, you can either get a map from one of the park offices or go to nhstateparks.org

Direct, rocky ascent from the north side of Monadnock. Quieter but still contains fine scenery

Not too steep but a long steady climb. Rocky trail with some scrambling higher up.
