This is a fun trail in a creek valley, with several short side paths to explore. The redwoods are abundant and the vegetation gets very lush and dense close to the creek.

High School Trail begins 0.5 miles from the parking area. Take Bennett Creek Trail to Fall Creek Trail, go right onto Fall Creek Trail, and then left onto High School Trail. This is well marked.

High School Trail starts off flat through the redwoods, and soon passes Ridge Trail on the left. This trail junction is well marked. Go straight here to stay on High School Trail.

Then about 0.16 miles from the High School Trail beginning, an unmarked trail junction is reached. Going left here takes one onto High School Trail Cut-Off, which parallels High School Trail and rejoins High School Trail when the cut-off ends after 0.4 miles. Go right at this unmarked trail junction to stay on High School Trail.

After passing High School Trail Cut-Off, High School Trail veers right and descends into the creek valley where the trail runs until its end. The creek valley is wide and flat here. After about another 0.1 miles, a "T" in the trail is reached. Going right takes one on a very short side trip on High School Trail Dead-End. To stay on High School Trail, go left at this "T" and start going upstream in this redwood forest creek valley.

After about another flat 0.35 miles through the huge redwoods, High School Trail reaches another unmarked trail junction where High School Trail Cut-Off rejoins High School Trail. High School Trail continues upstream in the creek valley, now running closer to the creek on the right, with the steep, redwood-covered, creek-valley hillside to the left of the trail.

About 0.8 miles from the start of High School Trail, another unmarked trail junction is reached. Going right here takes one across the creek on High School Trail Spur Crossing to a spur trail, (High School Trail Spur) that leads to the playing fields of San Lorenzo Valley High School. Go left at this unmarked trail junction to stay on High School Trail.

High School Trail becomes more rugged now as it loops around and crosses the creek after another 0.2 miles. Immediately after crossing the creek, another "T" is reached. Going right takes one onto High School Trail Spur. Go left to stay on High School Trail, which is now wide and flat, to its end in a loop around a clump of redwoods.
