Overview
On this hike, you'll summit Carlton Peak, which stands 924 feet above Lake Superior and provides a spectacular view of the lake and surrounding National Forest.
Description
Starting at the Britton Peak Trailhead parking area, head south on the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT). You'll soon cross the road and there will be a sign for Carlton Peak on the other side. Continue on the SHT heading up the peak until you reach a log book. Turn around and you'll see a sign reading "Summit" that will lead you to the Carlton Peak Summit Spur Trail.
Following this trail will bring you to the top, where you'll see one of the most spectacular views of Lake Superior and the surrounding national forest in the area.
