Description

The trail begins at Martin Park and crosses the river on the Riverside Boulevard bridge. After crossing the river, continue to the first traffic light. Here, cross Riverside Boulevard at the crosswalk, turn right (towards the river), to get back on the path. This is the only segment of the trail that is somewhat steep. Follow a couple of switchbacks down the hill to get back down to the riverbank.

Continue north through the forest until you reach the Sportscore Park. This can be a crowded venue in the summers with families there for little league baseball and soccer. To stay on the path, follow the river and any directional signs you find.

Eventually, you'll cross Elmwood Road and leave the Sportscore. Continue north, following the path underneath the Harlem Road Bridge, to reach Headquarters Forest Preserve.
