Trail distance is shorter, and difficulty is generally low, making this a good route for families.
This is a State park, so an Entry Fee, or a State Park Pass is needed.
Description
I use this trail as part of a slightly larger loop in the park. It weaves through the Frisbee Golf course and crosses the Sioux River on a suspension bridge. I then follow the trail along the river's edge (Good for photo Ops). The original trail has you loop back in front of the large hill, but I take one of two routes up over the top. Option #1 is to follow the trail in a counterclockwise direction first to the east and then up to crest the hill on the north end of the park. Option #2 (which is very physical) is to follow the trail in a clockwise direction as it climbs the face of the hill and go up the side of the hill in the reverse direction.
There is a bench at the top of the crest of the hill that is also good for photos of the area overlooking the Sioux River and Brandon to the East.
Just to add distance to the hike, I follow the Archery Range Trail back to close the loop.
