Description

This primitive nature trail winds through the north side of the 130-acre sanctuary. The trail passes through hydric and mesic hammocks and sand pine scrub communities. Unfortunately, the sound of traffic makes it difficult to escape through this preserve of old Florida, but the trail is still a nice refuge from the ever-encroaching expansion.

Flora & Fauna

Box turtle, alligator, eastern indigo snake, west Indian manatee, river otter, gopher tortoise, spotted skunk, raccoon, opossum, Florida mouse, warbler, osprey, duck, wading birds, and pileated woodpecker.
