Open to the public; no fees. You'll have to share the trail with hikers, runners, mountain bikers, and equestrians. There are lots of races hosted here through the year, but the trails are always open.

Overview

There are plenty of places along this hike to stop and take in the views. There are also lots of hills with a few short, steep climbs, and lakes, rivers, and lots of mud and dirt.

Need to Know

Be aware the trails will be very muddy after some rain.

Description

This hike is mostly singletrack with a few sections of mixed doubletrack and dirt road. There are lots of different trails to explore. I find myself hiking a different route each time I go.

From the trailhead, start the hike on the Board Walks Trail. This short trail includes a series of board walks to connect you with the Beaver Lake Trail. Once on Beaver Lake Trail, you'll enjoy a hike through lots of trees. Continue south on the Pipeline Trail to connect to the Temple Pond Loops.

The North Temple Pond Loop is a fun trail to hike. Hikers will enjoy pond views, short hills, and a quiet forest. The trail starts and ends off of the Pipeline Trail, but you'll want to continue onto the Temple Pond Loop. This short trails is mostly singletrack with a few short pull-offs available to view the lake. This trail gets closest to the water itself, so keep an eye out for critters in the water!

Next, hike along the South Temple Pond Loop to connect back to the Pipeline Trail and Pipeline Loop Trail which has a steep descent before connecting to the River View Quarry Trail and the Quarry Trail. The Quarry Trail is a great trail to get you from the bottom of the park (lower elevation) to the middle section. Take this trail to avoid the long steep hill at the bottom of the Pipeline Trail. Along the way, be sure to enjoy both the shade of the forested sections of trail, as well as the open views in the places where the trees thin out.

From here, hike along the Main Trail and take a left onto the Devil's Butte Trail, a nice trail that circles a small pond and crosses a stream. There are a couple of hills to navigate as you hike the western side of the trail near Devil's Butte. Once you connect back to the Main Trail, head north to Board Walks to return to trailhead.
