Description

You can start in either NC or TN. The TN trailhead is near Roan Mountain, TN and the NC trailhead is at the end of Roaring Fork Road off of US 19E. The trail has multiple viewpoints as it passes through open pastures, goes deep into some really nice wooded coves, and connects to the most famous trail of them all, the Appalachian Trail! Plus, this section is not just any section of the AT, it is one of its most scenic in the Roan Highlands. The summits of Little Hump and Grassy Ridge are less than 3 miles away in either direction.
