Family Friendly The trail is an easy short hike, and it is fun to watch the climbers on the rock wall.

The trail is closed due to snow from about December to May. A Northwest Forest Pass is required to park at the French's Dome Trailhead.

Description

This quiet, short trail takes visitors to a lone andesite crag located on the west side of Mount Hood. There are excellent views of Mount Hood from the top of French’s Dome. French’s Dome is a popular rock climbing spot with many route options.

The trailhead for French's Dome is located 6.1 miles up Lolo Pass Road (Forest Road 18) on the right (east) side of the road.

Flora & Fauna

The trail is surrounded by Douglas fir and lodgepole pine with numerous ferns, Oregon grape, and salal in the understory.
