Description

The north section starts where the trail down from the Visitor Center meets it and the South River Trail. It's mostly crushed limestone with a bit of pavement at the southern end, and no big elevation shifts. Easy to hike out-and-back if you don't want to go for a longer hike out to the Prairie Loop.

Along the way, you'll pass a couple picnic areas and a swimming beach on the shore of the St. Croix River.

Flora & Fauna

Bald Eagles are commonly seen in the tops of dead trees along the trail.
