Need to Know

To get to Monkman Provincial Park from Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia (the nearest town), take BC 52 south for 9miles/14km to Murray River Forest Service Road. Go right onto Murray River FSR. This junction is well marked for Monkman PP. Follow Murray River FSR for 30miles/48km, into the park, to its campground and parking area. The trail system takes off from this parking area.

Description

McGinnis Falls Spur is found along Devils Creek Camp/Cascades Camp Connector about 0.15 miles from Devils Creek Camp Trail. This trail junction is not well marked and is on the rock slabs, so there is no trail tread to find and follow. Know where you're going, and look around in that direction to see orange diamonds and flagging tape, that mark the trail.

Follow these orange markers to arrive at an overlook where the falls thunder over the cliff to drop down into Monkman Creek far below. Be careful; don't get too close to the edge....

Flora & Fauna

Primarily rock slabs with sparse, short grass. A few small, lone conifers among the rock slabs.

As Devils Creek Camp Trail/Cascades Camp Trail Connector climbs the rock slabs, impressive views of nearby, rugged mountains emerge.

The bottom of McGinnis Falls is seen from a cliff top. The body of the falls is hidden behind the bush and cliff on the left (too scary to go any further to see it).
