Fee parking
Need to Know
Paid parking begins May 15th.
Description
After paying the parking fee at the trailhead, follow a well-maintained path that immediately begins descending into the gorge. The trail is obvious and reinforced with chain-link handrails in steeper sections, guiding you down through granite slabs and loose dirt.
Expect a quick drop, then a slight rise, followed by another descent—more of a rolling in-and-out than a single straightforward downhill. The footing is generally solid, but the grade can feel steeper on the way out, especially in warm weather.
The trail delivers you to a tucked-away granite basin with a clear, emerald pool fed by a small waterfall. The walls tighten around the cove, creating a natural amphitheater where people gather to relax, swim, or watch (and attempt) cliff jumps from the surrounding rock ledges.
Most visitors either find a rock to lounge on or wade into the shallows near the inlet. The water depth varies, and posted warnings note frequent changes—so jumping is at your own risk.
Return the same way you came: a short but punchy climb back up out of the gorge.
