Overview

This route has four creek crossings and some good ups and downs.

Need to Know

Some of these trails are shared-use mountain bike trails. Riders are few, but all I have encountered have been safe & courteous.

Description

Several trails come down out of the parking lot. This entrance is just to the right of the sign, stairs will take you down to the creek. At Keehner park creek play is encouraged. Turn left and continue to the 4 sign. take a look over the "cliff" and head up the rocky rooty slope.

Meander through the trees and turn right when the trail forks near 3. This will take you down to the waterfall. At the 5 sign, cross the creek. Look for 30 and head up the more gradual slope straight/right. In the winter this area has beautiful creek views. Continue past a nice open area with trees at sign 29. Cross the clearing under the power lines.

Take a hard left at 28. Turn left at 26 and follow this gently weaving trail. It will cross another trail at 25 and continue straight. At 24, continue straight, down to cross the clearing under the power lines again. When you enter the trees again, continue right at 23, heading up the hill. There's a bench at the top with some nice views when the leaves are down.

Cruise down the hill, keep right at 22 and you'll find yourself back at the creek. Cross the creek, the trail continues to your right. Head up the hill taking a left at the fork, sign 20 may be difficult to find. Continue straight from here until you come upon 35. Take a left onto this trail, at 40, continue straight. Follow this long slope down to the creek.

Cross the creek, there is a small loop on the other side, and moments later you'll be at the creek again. When you cross back the trail has some spaghetti, you'll want to look left/straight. If you find the 36 sign, take the gentle right, not the steep connector up the hill. When you get to the top of the hill, you'll turn left at 33. It's an easy hike in this section, continue straight at 31.

At the next fork, go left, you'll see the 2 sign off to the right. At 3 there is a tree laid across the trail (urging bikers to the left) you'll step over the tree and head downhill. We retrace our steps to 4 and take the trail along the creek all the way to the end (passing signs 6, 8, 10, 12). You'll cross a couple of little footbridges and go down a small set of stairs.

At the end of this path you'll see a "swimming hole", this is where park property ends. Take a hard right finishing out with a steep climb. Take a stroll through the park, back to the lot. Restrooms are on your left.
