This route leads up to Mount Ellinor along the path of a creek carrying snowmelt runoff and is only accessible when covered in snow. The ascent is very steep and usually requires crampons/microspikes or even an ice axe.

Leaving the main trail, the first few hundred yards are still through trees. You reach the bottom of what almost looks like a snow chute. This is your way up. As you gain elevation, views of Lake Cushman and Puget Sound open up. After half a mile you reach a small plateau, just below Sub Peak B. Turn west and follow the most moderate gradient up the Mount Ellinor. Views to your left and your right are stunning giving you a panoramic view of the Olympic Peninsula.
