Section Of

Description

This section of the Pinhoti Trail starts from the High Point Trailhead and follows US Highway 278 southeast. It leaves US Highway 278 and enters the woods. The trail climbs up to Davis Mountain Shelter and crisscrosses over the ATV trails. It continues to Hawkin's Hollow Shelter, then ascends up to Flagpole Mountain. The trail descends to the Tom McGehee Memorial Stone, then to the Alabama/ Georgia State Line. *The more accurate boundary of Alabama/ Georgia is marked by a pile of rocks, at the base of a tree. In another 0.1 miles, you'll see the Alabama/ Georgia state flags (to mark the supposed state lines). At approximately 11.5 miles, the trail reaches Spring Creek Shelter (on the left). This section of the Pinhoti continues another 2 miles to the Old Jackson Chapel Road Trailhead, where it ends.
