Section Of

Description

This section climbs up from Forest Service Road 500 to North Dugger Mountain Shelter. Through most of this section, the trail traverses a combination of woods roads and trail tread. It travels over a ridge, then descends down to a dam. The trail winds its way (through the hills) to Oakey Mountain Shelter. It descends down to the Chief Ladiga Trail, then turns right. It follows Chief Ladiga Trail (for a ways), then turns left (off the Chief Ladiga Trail). The trail climbs over a ridge, then descends to Maxwell Gap. It climbs, again, up to Lanie Gap. The trail continues until it reaches the Trailhead, off US Highway 278. *This parking area is shown as High Point Trailhead, but it should not be confused with the other High Point Trailhead (in Georgia).
