Description
To access the John Crockett Trail, you can park at the homestead and hike out the gravel road or drive out the gravel road and park in a small lot at the end of the road. From there, the trail leaves the back of the parking lot as a double wide grass and dirt trail that climbs up a small ridge above Limestone Creek before breaking away and heading toward the meadows.
A the top of the hill the trail intersects with the
Rebecca Hawkins Trail. If you go to the right, you'll arrive at the Collett grave site and if you go to the left, the trail leads to an overlook and will meet back up with the John Crockett Trail later. Continuing straight, the trail quickly comes to the park boundary which runs along a road where you can see surrounding homes and countryside.
Turning to the left, the trail follows the road for about a quarter of a mile before it turns left again and runs through the edge of the woods to a junction where it meets up with the
Rebecca Hawkins Trail again. The trail continues straight and emerges from the edge of the woods and into a field. It goes underneath some power lines as it makes its way downhill toward the David Crockett Homestead. The trail ends at the gravel road where you can continue exploring the homestead area.
Flora & Fauna
The woods and fields offer you the opportunity to see a wide variety of birds that call East TN home.
