Description

Back in 1940, before Barker Dam was built, water from Clodine flowed into Buffalo Bayou much further upstream than today. When the dam was built, drainage was re-routed along the outside of the dam in Clodine Ditch, leaving the old channel mostly stagnant. This channel is Long Point Slough.

The primitive trace exploring this feature begins on Westheimer Parkway about one half mile east of of Buffalo Bayou. The trace cuts through the woods to reach an abandoned access road then west for about 1/4 mile to the confluence of the slough with Buffalo Bayou. The trace runs south along the east bank of the slough for about a half a mile, with limited bridging over the deepest gullies.

After about 1/2 mile, the trace turns east through the trees to end at the Katy Premier FC fields clearing.
