Description
The Rail Spike Loop (northern loop) is the slightly hillier than the southern
Switcher Loop. More rolling and but speeds generally kept at bay that makes it perfect for the little ones or newer riders. The Rail Spike Loop has some more demanding descents and a bit more extending climbing, though it's still relatively easy. Trail passes through some stands of scrub oak and next to a few small ravines. Generally exposed to the sun without much shade.
The trail opened in late 2017 in collaboration with Three Springs, Durango Trails 2000 and Purgatory Resort. This trail system is Durango's premier beginner friendly terrain. Until it's seasoned, some conditions may be loose, but the best way to fix this is to get out and ride it!
