This trail was not built for sustainability; it's mostly a wash-out.

Description

This trail branches off Surry Mountain Lake Trail and winds its way up towards Lily Pond. This trail only travels to the edge of the US Army Corps of Engineers property boundary. To reach Lily Pond, follow the yellow TNC blazes (along the southeastern shoreline of Lily Pond). Eventually, the trail reaches a red TNC blaze; follow this to Lily Pond.

While there is a small shelter, here, it's unclear if camping is permitted. Since this shelter doesn't follow the standard building style, it was most likely built by someone who didn't have the appropriate building permissions.

Flora & Fauna

Flora: Pickerelweed, Eastern Hemlock.
Fungi: Black Trumpets, Milky Cap, Russulas, Destroying Angels, Small Chanterelles.
