The start of Malady Head Trail can be difficult to find. Drive up the hill at the entrance of malady Head Campground, turn right and follow the winding road through the campground past the tenting and oTENTik loops. There is a parking lot on the left. Follow the old road up to the trailhead.

Need to Know

There is a restroom here at the oTENTik area showers. This just to the left off the road that leads to the oTENTik areas.

Description

Park in the parking lot to the left before you reach the oTENTik areas. After you park, head up the road that will wind around to the left and take you to the official trail that leads into the forest on the left hand side of the road before you reach the water tower.

Follow the forest path through the black spruce areas carpeted by moss. You'll cross some boardwalks and areas that may be wet. The trail will be come quite steep toward the end. As you reach the end, you'll get to a viewing platform where you'll have a bird-eye view of Southwest Arm, the Eastport Causeway and Alexander Bay. Head back the way you came on this out and back trail to reach the parking lot.

Flora & Fauna

mature black spruce forest, moss, lichens, Indian pipe plant.
