Need to Know

This trail can be completed out and back or one-way (but need to organise return transport). Public transport is limited between Kuranda and Cairns. Some options may include the Kuranda Rail or SkyRail. Kuranda offers markets and shops with many assorted food options.

Description

This trail primarily follows mostly a vehicle fire-track that goes through rainforest and areas exposed to the sun. Some sections have uphill/downhill climbs (which could be slippery during wet weather). The track passes Surprise Creek which is a nice spot to take a break with a small waterfall.

The trail passes through Wright's Lookout with views through Barron Valley. Further along, views across to the Barron Falls with access to viewing platforms used by the railway. Part of the section is paved between the rail stop and Kuranda and wanders through rainforest. The trail follows the Barron River track before accessing the village of Kuranda.
