Upper Animas Mountain trails closed for wildlife December 1 to July 31st. Lower Animas Mountain trails (from Aquila to the south) are closed from December 1 to April 15. Watch out for bikers.

Description

A good option for making loop routes especially when the seasonal wildlife closures prevent using the upper trails to reach the summit of Animas. Aquila passes through stands of ponderosa and shrubby understory typical of this area.
