The trail starts in maple and birch forest, then transitions to a hemlock forest. There are some muddy sections, but many bog bridges over the worst. It reaches Mosquito Beach, and can be looped with the Mosquito Falls Trail. This is also an alternate trail for the Chapel Loop, avoiding Mosquito Falls, which draws more visitors.
