Need to Know

This is a snowmobile trail (during the winter).

Description

This trailhead is somewhat difficult to find; you'll have to navigate Corridor 19 to get to it. It starts off Snowmobile Junction 4210 and heads northward, following a wide road. It's fairly moderate up to the picnic area, then begins to get steeper.

In a short distance from the picnic table, you'll cross over into the Green Hills Preserve. It passes by the remnants of what may have been part of the Redstone mining village. It crosses over a few snowmobile bridges as it ascends the slope. The small spring (on the right) may be the last place to find decent water, before reaching the summit.

The trail becomes much narrower after passing the groomer turnaround area. This trail ends When it reaches the Black Cap Connector.

If you're using this trail as the snowmobile trail, it turns right onto Black Cap Connector. It travels for a short ways, then stays forward left onto the Black Cap Alternate. It reconnects with the Black Cap Connector and follows this to Black Cap Spur. The trail takes a short 0.2 miles (along Black Cap Spur) to just below the summit of Black Cap.
