From the parking lot, follow the trail north through the archery range. The trail turns left after 0.2 miles, crosses a (usually dry) creek and then makes a sharp right turn. You leave the trees behind and get a glimpse of Lake Sonoma. After two thirds of a mile, the trail joins an old dirt road. Follow the road as it switchbacks down the hill. Huff n' Puff Trail is to your left after 1.4 miles. Continue straight ahead. The trail makes another sharp right turn 100 yards later towards a flat area with a picnic table.
