Chunky singletrack that often feels more like backcountry bushwhacking across the bluffs overlooking Trinidad Lake.

Need to Know

State Parks pass required for entry. Levsa Nature Trail near the campground is hiker-only.

Description

The trail begins in the campground next to the visitor's center just off Hwy 12. Follow the gravel until it turns to singletrack and stay right -- the Levsa Nature Trail is hiker-only. After the fork, the trail gets rocky. You'll have brief respites of sand and dirt, but expect loose sandstone slabs, large roots, and waterbars in various states of repair throughout.

At the far end, things become particularly overgrown, rutted, and occasionally hard to follow. Once you reach the trailhead and road at the west end, you can return the way you came or take the gravel road around the lake to return on the South Shore Trail.
