Description

The portion of this land that is now a restored burr oak savanna was once the eastern farm of the Shakertown settlement in Dayton. Older satellite data from the mid 1990s show the land was still used for farming as recently as 1994. Prairie wildflowers have been planted throughout this former farmland along with new burr oak trees. A garden can be found at the far eastern portion of this trail as well as a labyrinth and a greenhouse.

Flora & Fauna

Burr oak (Quercus macrocarpa), Butternut (Juglans cinerea), false indigo (Baptisia australis), goldenrod (Solidago sp.), tall ironweed (Vernonia gigantea)
