Need to Know

The trail passes water with extremely rapid currents and is potentially unsuitable for some pets and children.

Description

An easy trail from good parking, there is a pit toilet at the parking area. After crossing Clearwater Valley road on the well-signed trail, hikers continue a short distance down to the river to a sturdy viewing platform for Bailey's Chute, a narrowing of the Clearwater river. More ambitious hikers can continue upriver to Marcus falls and Myanth falls before the trail turns back south to return to the parking via the unimpressive West Lake. Keep an eye out for waterfowl and deer near the lake but the waterfall viewpoints and lower trail are probably too well-traveled by hikers to encounter any wildlife.
