Description

This section of the trail stops near an overlook spot which allows for views of the ocean as well as Vandenberg Air-force Base. You can continue on the trail all the way down to the beach for about a 10 mile round trip. Part of the trail in on military property so it is important to respect staying on the trail and if the gate is closed at the top that means you are not allowed to enter.

The gate is normally closed for events like rocket launches. At the beginning of the trail there are a number of social trail routes that have been made, but it is advised to stay off all of the social trails as they are private property and run the risk of getting this trail closed if continued to be used.

Cattle can be found on or around this trail since it is grazing fields. This trail can also experience sudden weather changes so it is advised to bring something for rain and plenty of water as the trail is almost completely exposed.
