Access and exploration of Big Bend trail camp on the family friendly Chaba Trail.
Description
The Big Bend Campground Path is found at the 3.8 mile mark along
Chaba Trail. Follow the trail sign arrow to Big Bend Campground to get to scenic Big Bend trail camp.
The Big Bend Campground Path begins by circling around the edge of a quiet wet area to the left, then comes to braids of the Athabasca River, also to the left. Continuing on, the path reaches a point jutting out into the river, with an awesome view of the river and distant snowy mountains. Also here, is Big Bend trail camp - picnic tables, bear proof food storage lockers, and a map of the trail camp. Continuing on, the path bends right/north to run along the Athabasca River to the tent pads. Passing the tent pads, one can continue on exploring the area.
