Need to Know
There is a parking log at the trailhead. Parking here does cost money and increases based on time spent there. Bring at least a ¥1,000.
The parking lot also has a restroom and a wash station.
Description
Check the weather before doing this hike! Rains in the area can increase water flow, raising the level of the river and creating flash flood situations putting hikers at risk.
This hike begins at a parking lot and follows a paved road for about half its length. At a clearly marked junction, the trail moves off the road and into the river. From here, the river is the trail. For the length of the river to the waterfall, the water is normally about ankle deep with some section being waste deep. The river bed itself consists of fine sand and rocks. In sections where the water is deeper or the footing is uncertain, there are bypasses either to the left or right. In some cases there are rope holds to assist.
Care should be taken to prepare for this hike. Ensure hikers are wearing amphibious type shoes that drain easily and have good grip on slippery surfaces. Hikes will get wet and should dress appropriately.
Additionally, this hike can be done with children, but extra time should be budgeted to ensure they are helped along appropriately. Parents should also know their children's hiking ability and plan accordingly.
