Description

If hiking back down from Silver Star down the Grouse Vista Trail #180F this is a great alternative spur trail to take to be able to see Mt. Hood the whole way until you meet back up with the Grouse Vista Trail. The first part of the spur is very narrow/singletrack, somewhat step, with a lot of overgrown vegetation around the trail but it's still easy to follow and once the trail flattens back out, it opens up to a wide sweeping view of the volcanoes and surrounding area. This trail also offers great wildflower views during the spring and is less used than the main trail on the west side of the ridge so it's a little more peaceful section if the trail is busy.
