The trailhead for this trail is at the end of a narrow road in front of an active quarry. There is a designated parking area, but it is very limited.

Description

This trail is a CFPA blue-blazed trail.

This trail begins at a gate by the Blue Stone Quarry. It follows a gravel road until it passes under a powerline corridor. For about a mile and a half, the trail parallels Hancock Brook with beautiful views of the flowing water. It continues ascending slowly until it enters a small area of private land and turns south, skirting a small lake.

As it continues southward it climbs, at times steeply, high above the river. It continues along this ridge with multiple bare rock outcroppings that provide scenic views of the valley and of Waterbury in the distance. Finally, it comes upon the powerline corridor again. Here, the trail finishes its loop on a view steep and eroded slope. This descent can be treacherous and requires care. The trail then meets back up with the gravel road and turns to the parking area.
