Description

The signed junction for the Davis Lake Spur is in the level area a little north of Hilton Lake 2. The trail curls around a rocky hill and drops near the Hilton Creek inlet to Davis Lake. An old trail branches off and follows the creek back to Lake 2. It is not difficult to continue around the northern shore and cut back off-trail to the Hilton Lake Trail.

The Spur Trail crosses the creek at the top of a meadow and then climbs the low ridge between the two lobes of Davis Lake. You can drop to the shore of either lake or take the trail to the end of the peninsula.

Davis Lake the largest of the Hilton Lakes. It is less alpine than the other lakes, because it is not nestled beneath cliffs and
the northern part of the lake is fairly shallow. It has great fishing. The water is clear and warmer for swimming than the other Hilton Lakes.
