Need to Know

For emergency services dial 911 or 112. Note that cell service is fine in most parts of the route. Guesthouse accommodation is available in Hovk, Gosh, villages, as well as in Ijevan and Dilijan towns. Wild camping is tolerated throughout the area; please follow Leave No Trace principles at all times. Be aware of shepherd dogs near the farms and wolves/bears on the mountains mostly in the winter season.

Description

Trail starts from Hovk village and takes to the foot of Apakekar mountain, then passing through the bottom part of Ljevan Mountain Range enters the forest. Before entering the forest there is a junction of other trails (The Transcaucasian Trail and Three Hawks trail).

Reaching the lower part of the Aghjkaberd fortress, you can climb up to it which is located on the top of a forested mountain, surrounded by high cliffs on all sides, at the same time it is protected by artificial, pyramidal walls.

From the top you can admire the wonderful view of the Aghstev River valley. Going down from here, you can continue on the marked trail, reaching the Dilijan-Ijevan highway.
