Need to Know

Restrooms at Burroughs Park and Rob Fleming Lodge. Cell service along trail is good.

Description

Starting out at Burroughs Park plenty of parking at the dog park. Work your way through this beautiful park with a small pond and Spanish Moss hanging from trees until you get to trailhead. Once on the Burroughs park connector head east along the path. It is well marked with blue markings. You'll make your way through some very cool swamp lands creek bank running until you hit the open lakes on the trail. There's several ways to get through this section but ultimately if you keep heading east you'll find the main trail back into the densely wooded trail. Here you'll encounter some neat features as you make your way through and over tributary creeks and streams. There's a hidden pond that's worth making the quick 8-10 min detour. Beaver Pond Loop Trail has family of beavers actively working this area. Amazing sunset photo spot as well. Continue east along the trail and you'll make it the the Kuykendahl Bridge. If you continue along the trail for approximately another 4 miles you'll get to Rob Fleming Trailhead. You can cross into Montgomery County and continue all the way to The Montgomery County Preserve. All of these trails are very well marked. You'll encounter birdwatchers, hikers, bikers and nature lovers in general. Plenty of space to get out for Peace and Serenity.
