“A trail that gets you a little closer to the John Day River than the Pinnacles Trail.
”
Family Friendly
A very flat trail with a shade tree and river access.
Description
This trail begins at a signed four-way intersection with the Upper Walnut Trail about a mile past the kiosk along the Pinnacles Trail. At the beginning a large tree offers a nice spot to rest from the sun, and helps explain the name of the trail. You can also access the river here. The trail then meanders along the edge of the John Day River parallel to the Pinnacles Trail for a little over a third of a mile before turning to rejoin the Pinnacles Trail.
