Family Friendly An easy improved trail to a nice fenced overlook of the park plus a few benches.

Description

This is an easy trail to do while exploring the park facilities and campground. The trail is gained from the Sage Steppe Trail near the large parking area past the barn. The packed dirt and gravel-fill trail heads north before switchbacking to the southwest.

You'll pass the Peak 1443 Trail through a large old gate before coming to the end of the trail. Here there is a nice viewpoint offering views across the campground to the canyon, of the river, barn, and of course the John Day River. There are a few benches here too.
