The Massanutten Western Slope is privately owned and hikers must carry a valid annual pass or purchase a day pass ($10) or week pass ($25) from the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition. Find out more, here.

Description

This trail is very short and not especially technical, but it is rated 'Intermediate/Difficult' because of penalty for error. If you make a mistake, you'll be sliding down a steep mountainside.

At the end of the trail, you'll come upon one of the best views of Harrisonburg. It's the perfect stop for a quick view, a short break, or even a long rest in a hammock (hammock not included, be sure to pack your own).

Leighton's Overlook is named in memory of Leighton Shank. Read more about Leighton, here.
